We are thrilled to announce that our team, under prime consultant Aplin & Martin Consultants Ltd., has been awarded the prestigious Design Contract for the 72 Avenue Extension project in the City of Surrey. This $138 million project marks the largest municipal transportation investment in the city's history. The project will extend the four-lane roadway from 152 Street to 176 Street, significantly enhancing regional connectivity and alleviating traffic congestion.
As a Structural Engineering sub-consultant to Aplin & Martin on this multi-discipline team, Spannovation is tasked with the design of two critical four-lane bridges. The Serpentine River Bridge will be a three-span structure, while the Bear Creek Bridge will be a single-span structure. Our team has proposed innovative engineering solutions that strike a balance between environmental sensitivity, challenging soil conditions, and high seismic activity. These solutions aim to minimize costs, reduce construction impacts, and ensure long-term durability with minimal maintenance requirements.
Other sub-consultants to Aplin Martin on the multi-discipline team include Braun Geotechnical Ltd. for geotechnical, Kerr Wood Leidal Associates Ltd. for hydrotechnical and drainage, BlueLines Environmental Ltd. for environmental, Keystone Environmental Ltd. for contaminated soil, Arcadis Professional Services (Canada) Inc. for electrical, and McTavish Resource and Management Consultants Ltd. as the agrologist.
Stay tuned for more updates as we embark on this exciting journey to transform Surrey's transportation landscape.
